The MBF-P03D Gundam Astray Blue Frame D emerges as a variant within the Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L/G series, debuting in the novel Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray B and under the skilled piloting of Gai Murakumo. Crafted in the Ame-no-Mihashira's factory under Gai's direction, the Gundam Astray Blue Frame D is purpose-built for close combat scenarios, specifically tailored to counter Dante Gordigiani's MBF-P0X Gundam Astray Noir.
As a variant of the MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L and MBF-P03secondG Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second G, the Gundam Astray Blue Frame D undergoes significant modifications. It replaces the majority of its components with parts from the original Blue Frame, incorporating newly designed elements. Notably, a striker pack connector is added to the suit's back, facilitating the attachment of the Vouivre Striker—a modified AQM/E-X01 Aile Striker.
Armed with an array of 10 blades, the Gundam Astray Blue Frame D is strategically designed to capitalize on the potent output from the Vouivre Striker, allowing it to close in on enemies and engage in close combat. However, the seemingly conventional blades conceal a unique feature—they are DRAGOONs with distinctive abilities. Most of these blades double as handheld weaponry, showcasing the versatility of the Gundam Astray Blue Frame D in various combat scenarios.
Gai further enhances the suit by incorporating a pair of blade guns mounted underneath the arms, providing additional firepower and augmenting the Gundam Astray Blue Frame D's effectiveness in close-quarters combat. This variant, with its specialized configuration and versatile weaponry, exemplifies the adaptability and ingenuity in mobile suit development within the Gundam Astray series.
